At JMC Automotive Equipment, we sell a wide range of products — from small shop tools and accessories to large commercial-grade automotive equipment such as car lifts, tire changers, wheel balancers, air compressors, and paint booths.
Because these products vary significantly in size, weight, shipping method, and installation requirements, our return policy is structured in two tiers: Standard Products and Large Equipment.

1. Product Categories
Standard Products
Standard products are smaller, non-freight items that can be returned in their original, unused condition. Examples include hand tools, shop accessories, small air tools, tire accessories, jack accessories, and similar items that have not been installed, used, or modified.
Large Equipment
Large equipment includes any product that is oversized, freight-shipped, palletized, crated, or designed for permanent or semi-permanent installation. Examples include:
- Car lifts (2-post, 4-post, scissor, alignment, portable, inground)
- Tire changers
- Wheel balancers
- Air compressors
- Paint booths and spray booths
- Frame machines
- Alignment equipment
- Shop presses
- Heavy-duty jacks and lifting equipment
- Metalworking machinery
- Any product requiring professional installation, anchoring, electrical connection, or air supply connection
2. Return Window
Both Standard Products and Large Equipment may be reviewed for return within 30 days of delivery.
The return window begins on the date the product is delivered according to the carrier tracking record or delivery receipt. Return requests submitted after 30 days may be denied.
3. Return Eligibility — Standard Products
Standard products in new, unused, uninstalled, and unmodified condition may be eligible for return within 30 days of delivery, subject to the following conditions:
- Product must be in original, unused condition
- Product must include all original packaging, parts, manuals, and accessories
- A Return Material Authorization (RMA) must be approved before shipment
- A 30% restocking fee applies to all approved returns
- Customer is responsible for return shipping costs
Standard products that have been used, installed, modified, damaged, or are missing original packaging are not eligible for return.
4. Return Eligibility — Large Equipment
Large equipment returns are limited to the following situations:
- Defective products confirmed by JMC or the manufacturer
- Manufacturer errors
- Incorrect product shipped by JMC
- Missing major components confirmed by JMC
- Products specifically approved for return in writing by JMC
Large equipment returns are not accepted for:
- Buyer's remorse or change of mind
- Incorrect product selected by the customer
- Customer failure to confirm dimensions, electrical requirements, air requirements, ceiling height, concrete requirements, or installation requirements before purchase
- Equipment that has been installed, assembled, anchored, used, powered on, gassed, oiled, or started
- Equipment damaged due to misuse, improper installation, or customer handling
- Special order, custom, or made-to-order equipment
JMC reserves the right to deny any large equipment return that does not meet these conditions.
5. Return Authorization Required (All Products)
No returned merchandise will be accepted without a Return Material Authorization (RMA).
Do not ship any product back without written return approval from JMC. Products returned without an approved RMA may be refused, returned to the customer, or deemed ineligible for refund.

Please include:
- Order number
- Customer name and business name
- Product name and model number
- Serial number, if applicable
- Reason for return
- Photos or videos showing the product condition and issue
- Photos of original packaging
- Delivery receipt or Bill of Lading, if applicable
6. Restocking Fee
All authorized returns are subject to a 30% restocking fee, which applies to both standard products and large equipment returns.
This fee covers manufacturer return processing, inspection, testing, cleaning, repackaging, administrative handling, and supplier return fees.
The restocking fee may be waived only if JMC determines in writing that the return was caused solely by JMC's error or a confirmed manufacturer defect.
7. Return Shipping and Freight Costs
Customers are responsible for all return shipping and freight charges unless otherwise approved in writing by JMC.
For orders that originally included free shipping, the actual outbound shipping cost paid by JMC may be deducted from any approved refund.
Original shipping charges, freight charges, liftgate fees, residential delivery fees, limited-access fees, storage fees, and re-delivery fees are non-refundable unless otherwise approved in writing.
8. Non-Returnable Items (All Categories)
The following items are not eligible for return regardless of product category:
- Special order products
- Custom or made-to-order products
- Paint booths and spray booths
- Installed or used equipment
- Electrical components
- Open-box items
- Clearance or final sale items
- Discontinued products
- Products missing original packaging, parts, manuals, or labels
- Engine-powered equipment that has been gassed, oiled, started, or used
- Products damaged due to misuse, improper installation, poor maintenance, or customer handling
- Products returned without prior RMA approval
9. Freight Delivery Inspection
Many JMC products ship by freight carrier. Customers must inspect all freight shipments carefully before signing the delivery receipt or Bill of Lading.
If visible damage is present, write clear notes on the delivery receipt before signing. Examples: "Crate damaged," "Forklift puncture visible," "Product dented," "Missing box."
Do not write only "subject to inspection." If damage is severe, refuse the shipment and contact JMC immediately.
10. Damaged, Defective, Missing, or Incorrect Items
Damaged, defective, missing, or incorrect items must be reported within 72 hours of delivery.

Possible resolutions include replacement parts, repair assistance, manufacturer warranty claim, freight claim, replacement product, store credit, or refund if approved.
11. Concealed Damage
Concealed damage must be reported within 72 hours of delivery. Keep all original packaging, crates, and pallets until the claim is fully resolved. Failure to keep packaging may result in claim denial.
12. Manufacturer Warranty Claims
Some product issues may fall under the manufacturer's warranty rather than JMC's return policy. Warranty terms vary by manufacturer, product, and usage. JMC may assist with warranty communication, but final approval is determined by the manufacturer.
Warranty coverage typically does not include labor, installation costs, freight, downtime, lost revenue, misuse, improper installation, or normal wear and tear.
13. Cancellations
Order cancellations are not guaranteed. Orders may not be cancelable once processed, released to the warehouse, shipped, or submitted to the manufacturer. Special order and custom products may not be cancelable after the order is placed.
If cancellation is approved, cancellation fees, payment processing fees, manufacturer fees, or freight costs may apply.
14. Refund Processing
Approved refunds will be processed after the returned product has been received, inspected, and approved. Refunds will be issued to the original payment method within 10 business days after approval.
Refunds may be reduced by the 30% restocking fee, return freight, original outbound freight, missing parts, damage deductions, payment processing fees, or other approved deductions.
15. Exchanges
Exchanges may be approved at JMC's discretion. Customers are responsible for any price difference, return freight, restocking fee, and shipping costs for the replacement item, unless the exchange is due solely to JMC's or the manufacturer's error.
16. Refused Deliveries
If a customer refuses delivery without prior approval from JMC, the customer may be responsible for original freight charges, return freight, storage fees, re-delivery fees, restocking fees, and administrative fees. Refusing a shipment does not automatically qualify the customer for a refund.
17. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Customers agree to contact JMC first to resolve any issue before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute. JMC reserves the right to provide order records, tracking, signed delivery receipts, photos, and policy documentation to the payment provider.
18. Customer Responsibility Before Purchase
Customers are responsible for confirming product suitability before purchasing, including dimensions, vehicle compatibility, shop space, ceiling height, concrete requirements, electrical requirements, air requirements, installation requirements, permits, and local code compliance.
JMC representatives may provide general guidance, but the customer is responsible for final purchase decisions and site readiness.
19. Policy Abuse
JMC reserves the right to deny returns, refunds, or future sales in cases of suspected fraud, policy abuse, repeated returns, false claims, or chargeback abuse.
